Dress: Local Boutique / Shoes: (my favourite) Black Peep Toe with ankle strap  heels / Clutch: Colette by Colette Hayman / Necklace: Portmans

The day of my formal had finally arrived. For the past couple of weeks I have been buzzing with excitement. During the weeks leading up to formal I found that looking for a formal dress is more challenging than you think. Do you ever experience that when you are looking for something in particular (like a formal dress), you can never find it but when you’re not looking for something, you can find it everywhere (do you know what I mean?). Well that’s what happened while I was shopping for a dress. Luckily for me, I was able to find a dress at a boutique in Paramatta by the end of a (long) day.

I chose this beige coloured tulle dress with a sweetheart neckline.  The dress has black lace detailing along the waistline up to the top left hand corner of the neckline with silver crystalsI just love this dress. It’s has the right amount of “poof” and I love the way it fits. It just makes me feel so girly and pretty. The thing that made me drawn to this dress is the black detailing. I love how the black contrasts with the softness of the beige and tulle. I also like how a piece of tulle is draped over the top half of the black detailing. It makes the black look softer and not as harsh against the beige fabric.

Since, I tend to go for this style (sweet heart with a-line skirt) quite often for formal/special occasion dresses, I decided that in the future I will avoid these styles of dresses and go for other different dress styles and silhouettes. But, for formal I wanted to go for a dress with a some “poof” because when will I be able to wear a dress like this ever again. You will not always be able to pull off a girly, “poofy”, pretty dress like this.

I paired the dress with various black accessories to match the black lace detailing on the dress. I wore my favourite black peep toe heals with ankle straps, a black structured envelope clutch and a black and silver statement necklace. I got my hair and make-up done at Royals hair and beauty salon.

Overall it was a great night. I really enjoyed dancing and having fun with my friends and it will definitely be a night to remember.
